Emotional tension

Emotional tension is a state of increased mental and physiological arousal associated with difficult emotions or stress.

Definition

It may appear with fear, anger, uncertainty, conflict or overload. In the body it may be felt as tense muscles, tightness, rapid breathing or difficulty thinking clearly. Regulation is not about removing emotions, but about lowering arousal to a level where a choice of action is possible.

Practice and life

Rate your tension on a scale of 0-10. If it is above 6, apply the breath, movement or pause first and then decide.

Common misunderstanding

It is a mistake to suppress voltage without checking its source. The second mistake is making important decisions at the peak of arousal.
