Reaction inhibition

Response inhibition is the ability to stop an impulse or automatic response before it becomes action.

Definicja

Response inhibition is an executive function and allows you to interrupt automatic behavior patterns. Thanks to it, a person may not respond immediately, not click, interrupt the conversation or engage in a habitual reaction under the influence of emotions. It does not mean suppressing everything, but consciously delaying the reaction enough to make a choice possible.

Praktyka i życie

When faced with an impulse, apply the three-second rule: stop your body, name the impulse and only then choose a response.

Częste błędne rozumienie

It is a mistake to expect complete control over every impulse. Reaction inhibition is a skill that weakens with fatigue, stress and overload.
