Eustress

Eustress is stress perceived as a mobilizing challenge that can support action, learning and development.

Definition

Eustress means stress that a person interprets as bearable and related to a valuable goal. It may appear before a speech, a new project, a training session, or a change that requires effort but does not exceed resources. The line between eustress and distress depends on intensity, duration, recovery and feeling of influence.

Practice and life

Before a demanding task, label tension as a mobilization signal, then check your resources: sleep, time, support, and plan. If the voltage exceeds your limits, reduce the range.

Common misunderstanding

It is a mistake to romanticize stress and ignore overload. Eustress without rest can turn into chronic distress.
