Emotional intelligence
Emotional intelligence is a set of abilities related to recognizing, understanding, expressing and regulating one's own and other people's emotions.
Definition
Includes: awareness of emotions, using emotional information, understanding its meaning and managing reactions. It is not the same as being "nice" or a guarantee of morality; emotional abilities can be used both supportively and manipulatively. A reliable approach combines emotions with thinking, communication and action.

Practice and life
After a difficult conversation, assess four elements: what I felt, what the other person might have felt, how emotions influenced the decisions, and how I can respond more maturely next time.
Common misunderstanding
It is a mistake to confuse emotional intelligence with suppressing anger or remaining calm. A common mistake is using empathy without limits.
