Interoception

Interoception is receiving, interpreting and integrating signals coming from inside the body.

Definition

Includes signals such as hunger, thirst, heartbeat, tension, breathing and pain signals. Interoception is not just conscious "body feeling"; many processes occur outside of consciousness and support physiological and emotional regulation. It can influence decisions, emotions, sense of security and self-regulatory behavior.

Practice and life

Once a day, do a 2-minute scan: breathing, abdomen, heart, muscle tension, temperature. Record the signal without immediate catastrophic interpretation.

Common misunderstanding

It is a mistake to consider every bodily sensation as an alarm. The second mistake is to completely ignore the body and try to regulate emotions only by thinking.
