Somatization

Somatization is the expression or experience of mental difficulties through physical symptoms that cannot be fully explained by the state of the body alone.

Definition

Somatization does not mean that symptoms are "made up." It means that the body and mind may be linked in such a way that emotional tension appears as pain, pressure, fatigue, stomach discomfort or other signals. In case of new, severe or disturbing symptoms, medical evaluation is necessary.

Practice and life

If the symptom is recurring, write down the context: when it appears, with whom, after what stressor, how you react. Do not use this as a substitute for a medical consultation.

Common misunderstanding

It's wrong to say "it's just mental." It is also a mistake to ignore medical tests when dealing with physical symptoms.
