Somatosensory cortex
The somatosensory cortex is an area of the cerebral cortex that processes information from the body, including: touch, pressure, pain, temperature and location.
Definition
The somatosensory cortex helps create a map of the body and recognize signals from the skin, muscles and joints. It is important for sensation, coordination and orientation in the body. Its operation shows that mental experience is closely related to bodily information.

Practice and life
In the body mindfulness exercise, move your attention from your feet to your head and name the signals neutrally: pressure, heat, tension, pulsation.
Common misunderstanding
It is a mistake to ignore information from the body as "non-psychological". Often the body signals overload before conscious thought.
