Psychological needs
Psychological needs are the basic conditions for internal well-being, motivation and healthy functioning.
Definition
In the theory of self-determination, the needs for autonomy, competence and relationality are particularly important. Satisfying them supports motivation, learning and well-being, while chronic blocking may increase tension, withdrawal or compensation. In practice, it is worth distinguishing between a need and a strategy to meet it.
