Perspective

Perspective is a way of seeing a situation resulting from the position, experiences, emotions and assumptions of the observer.

Definition

Perspective influences which elements of a situation we consider important and what meaning we give to them. It may be personal, emotional, systemic, temporal or social. Broadening your perspective helps you distinguish facts from interpretations and reduces the risk of impulsive decisions.

Practice and life

Describe the same situation from three positions: yours, the other person's, and a neutral observer. Check which items are facts.

Common misunderstanding

It is a mistake to consider your own perspective to be the only objective one. The second mistake is taking on someone else's perspective without checking your own limits.
