Parasympathetic system

The parasympathetic system is a part of the autonomic nervous system that supports regeneration, digestion, lowering arousal and resting functions.

Definition

The parasympathetic system works mainly through the cranial nerves, including the vagus nerve, and the sacral nerves. It helps regulate the functioning of internal organs, slow down the heart rate, support digestion and restore balance after arousal. However, it does not mean a simple "calm mode" - autonomous regulation is more complex.

Practice and life

After a stressful task, plan 5 minutes to de-arouse: slower breathing, quiet movement or silence without a screen.

Common misunderstanding

It is a mistake to treat the parasympathetic nervous system as an instant calm button. It is also a mistake to ignore the fact that regeneration requires conditions, not just technique.
