Closeness
Closeness is the experience of emotional contact, trust and mutual availability in a relationship.
Definition
Closeness includes the ability to share experiences, ask for support, be seen and respect boundaries. It does not mean merging with another person or lack of autonomy. Healthy closeness combines contact with separateness: you can be together without losing your own self.

Practice and life
In one important relationship, name one true emotion without accusation: "I feel... and I need...". See whether the conversation deepens the connection or reveals a lack of security.
Common misunderstanding
It is a mistake to confuse closeness with control, constant availability or lack of privacy. It is also a mistake to avoid honesty in the name of "peace of mind".
