Clarity of communication

Clarity of communication means transmitting information in a way that is understandable, specific and verifiable by the interlocutor.

Definition

A clear message reduces guesswork, shortens misunderstanding loops and facilitates coordination. It includes defining the context, intentions, expectations, deadlines and criteria. It doesn't have to be cold - good communication can be both precise and empathetic.

Practice and life

After an important message, add one follow-up sentence: "Just to be clear: I need X by date Y, in the form of Z."

Common misunderstanding

It is a mistake to assume that the other person knows the context. It is also a mistake to use many words without a clear expectation or decision.
