Behavior

Behavior is the observable way an organism acts or reacts in a given situation.

Definition

Behavior may be conscious, automatic, learned, impulsive, habitual or intentional. It is important in psychology because it shows how thoughts, emotions, needs, environment and consequences translate into real action. The behavior itself does not always reveal the entire intention, so it is worth analyzing the context, stimuli and reaction function as well.

Practice and life

For a difficult pattern, write down: situation, behavior, consequence. See the mechanism first before you judge yourself.

Common misunderstanding

It is a mistake to judge behavior without context. It is also a mistake to confuse a single reaction with the entire personality.
