Mindset

Mindset is a relatively fixed way of interpreting yourself, situations and possibilities of action.

Definition

Mindset influences whether difficulty is seen as evidence of a lack of ability or as information for learning. However, it is not a simple affirmation or a guarantee of success. A healthy mindset takes into account effort, feedback, constraints and real context.

Practice and life

After a failure, write down two versions of the interpretation: a fixed one ("this is who I am") and a developmental version ("what can I learn?").

Common misunderstanding

It is a mistake to pretend to be optimistic and ignore limitations. The second mistake is to treat mindset as the individual's fault for every lack of result.
