Over-analyzing

Overanalysis is the repeated consideration of options, risks and scenarios without proceeding to a decision or test.

Definition

It may look like common sense, but it is often a form of avoiding uncertainty, responsibility or discomfort. It differs from deep thinking in that it does not narrow the problem, does not create a decision, and does not lead to an experiment.

Set analysis limit: 30 minutes, three options, three criteria, one test decision.

Common misunderstanding

It is a mistake to consider every additional piece of information necessary. The second mistake is confusing planning with action.
