Internalization
Internalization is the process of adopting external norms, values, principles or judgments as one's own.
Definicja
It can support development when a person consciously adopts values that help to live coherently. It can also be harmful when other people's expectations, critical voices or norms contrary to one's own well-being are internalized. In the theory of self-determination, it is important to distinguish between controlled subordination and a more autonomous assimilation of values.

Praktyka i życie
Choose one rule that you repeat in your head often. Ask three questions: where did I get it, does it still serve me, what would it sound like in a more autonomous version?
Częste błędne rozumienie
It is a mistake to accept each internalized principle as its own truth. A common mistake is also rebelling against all the norms without checking which ones really support life.
