Biopsychosociality

Biopsychosociality is a perspective in which health, behavior and well-being are understood as the result of the interaction of biological, psychological and social factors.

Definition

The biopsychosocial model extends the narrow view of a person through one factor. It takes into account the body, emotions, beliefs, behaviors, relationships, living conditions and culture. This does not mean that each factor is always equally important, but that a reliable understanding of the problem requires examining several levels of influence at once.

Practice and life

For a difficult problem, make a 3B map: biological factors, psychological patterns and social conditions. Only then select the intervention point.

Common misunderstanding

It is a mistake to use the biopsychosocial model as a general term without specific analysis. It is also a mistake to ignore biology or social context when only a psychological explanation suits us.

Questions for self-reflection
