Biofeedback

Biofeedback is a method of teaching the regulation of selected body functions thanks to feedback from physiological measurements.

Definition

In biofeedback, devices monitor signals such as muscle tension, breathing, heart rate, skin temperature or brain activity, and the learner sees feedback in real time. The goal is to develop greater awareness and control over physiological responses. Biofeedback is sometimes used as an element of support for stress, pain, tension or selected health problems, but it should be conducted responsibly and not replace treatment where it is needed.

Practice and life

The simplest training option is to observe your heart rate or breathing during cool-down exercises. Pay attention to which actions actually change parameters, instead of just relying on impressions.

Common misunderstanding

It is a mistake to treat biofeedback as a miracle cure for everything. It is also a mistake to interpret medical data on your own without competent support.
