Internal conflict is the tension between conflicting needs, values, emotions, or goals within one person.
Definition
Internal conflict occurs when different motives lead in different directions. It may concern security and freedom, closeness and autonomy, ambition and rest. Sorting out the conflict requires naming the parties to the tension and checking what values stand behind each of them.
