Stress

Stress is a mental and physiological reaction to demands, threats or overloads that the body assesses as important.

Definition

Stress can be motivating when it is short-lived and proportionate to the task, but chronic stress increases the cost to the body, emotions, sleep and concentration. It is important to distinguish a stressor from a stress reaction and check whether the body has the conditions to regenerate after stress.

Key ideas

  1. Response to a requirement
  2. Mobilization and cost
  3. The importance of regeneration

Practice and life

For a week, write down your biggest stressor of the day, how your body reacts, and how you recover. Check if the voltage has closure.

Common misconceptions

It is a mistake to treat stress only as an enemy. It is also a mistake to normalize chronic overload. > Stress is information about demand, and the problem begins when the demand lasts longer than recovery. > — Guru Element

Questions for self-reflection

  • What is a stressor and what is my reaction?
  • Do I have time to recover?
  • Which voltage can I reduce systemically?
