Task-oriented

Task-oriented is the tendency to organize energy around the completion of a specific task, goal or obligation.

Definition

Tasking helps you act, complete matters and maintain structure. However, it can become an escape from emotions, relationships or meaning if a person treats each tension as a task to be solved. Mature task-orientation combines agency with reflection on whether the task is appropriate.

Key ideas

  1. Concrete action
  2. Closing
  3. Risk of running away from emotions

Practice and life

Before entering task mode, ask: does it really require action, or does it require talking, resting or naming emotions first?

Common misconceptions

It is a mistake to treat every difficulty as a task. It is also a mistake to dismiss task-oriented nature as coolness, when it really helps to bring order to the chaos. > Being task-oriented helps you get started if it does not become an escape from meaning and emotions. > — Guru Element
