Clarity of boundaries
Clarity of boundaries is the awareness of what is acceptable, what we do not want to exceed and how we communicate it in action.
Definition
Boundaries are only useful when they are recognized, communicated and maintainable. Clear boundaries are not about being tough on people, but about protecting values, energy, time and security. The less clear the boundary, the more guesswork, tension and subsequent frustration.
Key ideas
- Awareness of limits
- Communication of needs
- Value protection
Practice and life
Choose one situation in which you feel tense and complete the sentence: "My boundary is..." and then "I will communicate it through..."
Common misconceptions
It is a mistake to expect others to know your boundaries. It is also a mistake to place the border only during the explosion, when it has not been named before.
> It's funny how much we can bend our boundaries in completely senseless situations, and how difficult it is for us to set them when it is the only way to defend ourselves.
