Eustress
Eustress is stress perceived as a mobilizing challenge that can support action, learning and development.
Definition
Eustress means stress that a person interprets as bearable and related to a valuable goal. It may appear before a speech, a new project, a training session, or a change that requires effort but does not exceed resources. The line between eustress and distress depends on intensity, duration, recovery and feeling of influence.
Key ideas
- Stress as a challenge
- Resource mobilization
- The role of interpretation and regeneration
Practice and life
Before a demanding task, label tension as a mobilization signal, then check your resources: sleep, time, support, and plan. If the voltage exceeds your limits, reduce the range.
Common misconceptions
It is a mistake to romanticize stress and ignore overload. Eustress without rest can turn into chronic distress.
> Stress shows us what to pay attention to, but not in an emotional way, but by opening our eyes to facts that we often see, but we do not want to acknowledge them.
