Reflection journal

A reflection journal is a regular writing down of experiences, emotions and conclusions to better understand yourself and your own patterns.

Definition

A reflection journal helps to transfer experiences from internal chaos into a form that can be seen, named and analyzed. It can support self-awareness, emotion regulation and learning from experiences. It doesn't have to be literary or everyday; what is more important is sincerity, regularity and translating conclusions into small actions.

Key ideas

  1. Self-observation
  2. Organizing experiences
  3. Learning from the day

Practice and life

In the evening, answer four questions: what happened, what I felt, what I learned and what I will do differently tomorrow.

Common misconceptions

It is a mistake to turn your diary into a catalog of accusations against yourself. A common mistake is writing without any conclusion or action, which turns reflection into rumination. > A written thought ceases to be fog and becomes material for work. > — Guru Element
